Strategy for GEN-MEDIEVAL subscribers

Here are some guidelines which may be useful if you suspect GEN-MEDIEVAL
is not sending out messages (adapted from something sent to
GENEALOGY-DNA subscribers by Ann Turner).

In general, if you're not receiving the expected volume of mail,

1) Check the RootsWeb HelpDesk for any system messages. (Our server
currently is lists2.rootsweb.com.)

http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/

2) Check the archives. If there are no new messages in the archives, no
one has received any mail. This URL will display February 2005 messages,
newest at the top:

http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/G ... =Redisplay

3) Please do not send "Test" messages. Those are sometimes rejected by
RootsWeb filters as "not real," so it proves nothing if they don't go
through. If you wish to send a message, send something useful, but save
a copy in case you need to send it later.

4) If there are new messages in the archives but you haven't received
them, check your subscription status. If RootsWeb has trouble delivering
mail to you after a certain number of tries, your e-mail address will
automatically be unsubscribed. You can check the status of all your
subscriptions at Password Central

5) Having checked/eliminated these possibilities, if you wish to
communicate with the Listowners to resolve questions, send your message
to the Listowners' mailbox - not directly to one of the listowners.
This will make sure it goes to the right person and speed response time.
Please indicate the version of the list to which you subscribe (-D or
-L) and if your question regards a specific error message or bounce,
include the message with complete headers. The Listowners' mailbox is:

GEN-MEDIEVAL-L-request@RootsWeb.com
