Findguala of Ireland

I see in Stewart Baldwin's file "The Kings of the Isle of Man" a woman
"Findguala of Ireland" who was a wife of Godred, king of Man, who died. 10
Nov 1187, and mother of Olaf.

Does anyone have further information on this woman?

From the Chronicle of the Kings of Man (Manx Society, vol. 4 (1860),
pp. 160-1, in Latin with parallel English translation):

Anno MCLXXVI Johannes de Curci sibi subjagavit Ultoniam. Eodem anno
Vivianus, Apostolice sedis Legatus Cardinalis, venit in Manniam, et
legationis suae officium complens, Godredum regem legitime desponsari
fecit cum uxore sua nomine Phingola filia MacLotlen, filii Murkartac
regis Hiberniae, matre scilicet Olavi, qui tunc triennis erat.
Desponsavit autem eos Silvanus Abbas de Rievale. In ipsa die,
Godredus rex dedit in oblationem venerabili Abbati Silvano partem
terrae apud Mirescog, ubi mox monasterium construxit; sed processu
temporis terra tota cum monachis concessa est Abbatiae Sanctae Mariae
de Russin.

A.D. 1176 This year John de Curci [Courcy] conquered Ulster. The same
year, Vivian, Cardinal Legate of the Holy See, came to Mann, and
fulfilling the object of his mission, caused Godred the king to be
lawfully married to his wife Phingola, daughter of MacLotlen son of
Murkartac, king of Ireland, and mother to wit of Olave, who was then
three years old. The ceremony was performed for them by Silvanus
Abbot of Rievale. On that occasion, King Godred gave as an offering
to the venerable Abbot Silvanus, part of the land at Mirescog, where
he soon afterwards built a monastery; but in the process of time the
land, with the monastery, was transferred to the abbey of St. Mary of
Russin.

To my knowledge, there is no known source for Findguala which is
independent of the above annal entry. Murkartac is clearly
Muirchertach Mac Lochlainn (d. 1166), king of Ireland. I have seen
Findguala placed as a daughter of Muirchertach's son Niall Mac
Lochlainn (d. 1176), perhaps because it was apparently he who was king
of Cenél nEógain in 1176, but I have seen no solid evidence for
placing her as a daughter of Niall rather than of one of
Muirchertach's other sons.

I should also point out that I know of no solidly documented
descendents of Findguala beyond the mid 1300's, although I think it is
likely that such descendants exist today. [For more on this, check
the newsgroup archives with "Waldeboef" as the search word.]
