We have tracked our ancestors back to one Albert, count of Eberstein, who
was married to a countess Marianne.
They had a son, Anders Albertson v. Eberstein, born in 1280.
Albert's parents are supposed to be Ludvig I, count of Eberstein Brauschweig
and Adelheid, countess of Gleichen.
I have no more dates of births, deaths or anything, but my hope is that
someone will recognize the names and be able to tell me more.
As far as I've found on the web, there is one Eberstein in Austria, south of
Vienna, and another in southwestern Germany, in Baden. I have not found any
Eberstein in the area of Braunschweig.
I would be gratreful for any help that this group may provide, as I'm no
expert in this.

Hi Inger,
Albert looks like the one who is supposed to have married a Danish
lady, Marianne Pedersdatter (Esbernsdatter?) Strangesen (or Udsen,
Vognsen? - obviously much uncertainty). My records show him living in
a place called Ørnhoved and dying in Lübeck in 1307. He was greve
1254-84 and his nickname appears to have been "der Däne". I also have
the parents of Albert/Albrecht as above, but I have a note that he
may be a son of an Otto.
Marianne is said to have been born in Randers, Denmark, possibly
around 1240. Adelheid of Gleichen may be (or may not be) a descendant
of Narald "bluetooth" , King of Denmark. Marianne's ancestors also
may, or may not, include Harald, but I wouldn't place a large bet on
the possibility as the line looks a bit "dodgy" in places, starting
with her father.
Anders Albertsen was also said to have been born in Randers (although
some say he was born in Pommerania) about 1280-1285 and appears to
have married an unknown daughter of a man with the efternavn "Sappi".
I have other individuals with that efternavn in my file and am
interested if you have any more information on Anders' possible wife.

Mike King

I have found one Marianne Esbensdatter (1240-1295 in Viborg, Denmark),
daughter of Esben Vognsen (1192 Lund, {must be South Sweden, but it used to
be Danish}-1268) and Margrethe Erlandsdatter Galen (born bef. 1225-). But
Marianne also has a "Pedersdtr ?" in brackets behind her name.
My records show him living in
Marianne's husband was, according to what I've got, Albert 1st Ludvigson,
Count of Eberstein. Some other place I saw his name written Everstein. I
have no notice about where he was born, but he died in Lübeck all right.
This website: http://www.kittymunson.com/GEDbrows/g551.html#I11028 has him
as son of Ludvig 1st, Count of Eberstein.
As for Adelheid von Gleichen, she is at the same web address as I quoted
above. If you follow the lines you will find that she descended from Harald
'Bluetooth' Gormsen (Gosh, I didn't realize that the bluetooth technology
was _that old_!) But of course, They didn't have written birth registries in
those days, so you can't really rely on what you find if it's all that old.
If you have references to an Anders Albertson / Albrechtson, I would really
be interested. I have never found him. I 'got' him from a relative who did
his research in the 1970ies, before the internet. He had Anders Albertsen
fathering Johanne Andersdatter (b. abt 1325), who married Niels Oveson Asdal
from North Jutland, Denmark. I don't know who his wife was.
And then, at http://www.kittymunson.com/GEDbrows/g551.html#I11036 you will
find another Johanne Andersdatter Asdal (abt 1385 - 1479). She is the
granddaughter of the first Johanne. This Johanne 'junior' married someone
named Sappi. But apart form the last names (Sappi, Stenbrikke, Asdal and
Eberstein), the first names and the patronymika are the same! And the death
year of Anders Nielsson Sappi, 1406) is the same as that of Anders Nielsson
Asdal. One could think that some researcher must have gone into a loop or
something. But the mother of Johanne 'junior' is Ide Lydersdatter Holck,
both in the website and in the papers I have from my relative. One could
perhaps try to find out if there are such placenames as Sappi, Stenbrikke
and Asdal in Northern Jutland, and if they are close together. Maybe those
persons used both names, repectively. Well, speculations, I know, but I tend
to think that they are the same ones.
I'll send you an extract of my file, so that you can better understand what
I'm saying. It's easy for me to sit here and compare two files, but you can
only see the one on the web.
