I think in general it is better practice to give a link to such sites

Re: Ancestry of El Cid
You are certainly right. but in this case I received
it from a researcher by private mail. As it is
generally available on the web, I see no problem in
having it in `mirror' sites.
Anyway, if someone feels there is some problem, I'll
ask Leo to withdraw it from the site, and will refrain
in the future to make research stuff freely available
to everyone - will keep mum

Thanks very much for posting it, Chico.
Let's just ignore the ankle-biter.
You did nothing wrong.

Why you should miss the point is beyond me: IT WAS ALREADY AVAILABLE TO
EVERYONE, you had only to check this (it was obvious enough from the format
of your file that it had not been scanned b y the sender) and post a link.
This is not "ankle-biting" as Spencer thoughtlessly tried to charaterise it:
copyright infringement is wrong in principle, and no way to share knowledge.
That is why copyright attaches to published research in the first place.
Perhaps you & Spencer could both raise your sights above the panty-line and
spare us more nonsense.
