FIGHTING FOR CHRISTENDOM

I have been reading Christopher Tyerman's Fighting for Christendom - most
impressed by it.
I am sure that all of us have come to the same conclusions as the author on
the 'personal' reasons for the Crusades...The conclusion I reach, however, is
that the reading public is not as 'well read' as the previous generations. I
remember reaching those conclusions ( on the Crusades, I mean) aged 13 at
Secondary school! What is the list's?
On the other hand 'Blood and Roses' by Helen Castor is rivetting, as is
Hawkwood by Frances Stonor Hawkwood!
Surely the Great American Public knew that the Spartans thought that love of
another man was 'pure love' and love of a woman was necessity.......most of
the people I know know this.
regards
