Re: Alexios Komnenos, Protostrator 1136-1183
Alexios's mothers name was Eupraxia and she was allegedly born in Kiew about
1110. Before they married in 1124, she was baptised Irene.
I am surprised that so little is known about her taking into account that
she must have been a "Princess". Her "surname" does not sound Russian. Was
she maybe from Georgia? I have 1152 as the year of her death.
I have Alexios daughter Eudoxia as being born 1167, married 1174 and died
about 1202. According to my records, she had one child, Maria, born 1180.
I know nothing about Alexios wife Maria Doukas. (No parents, No date of
Birth or any other date)
Maybe there is some new info available

This is confused - Eupraxia (Eirene), born ca 1110, died 17 November 1131,
was daughter of Mstislav Harold, grand prince of Kiev. She was the first
wife of Alexios Komnenos, co-emperor, who died of fever at Attalia on 2
August 1142 . They had only one known child, Maria, who died insane after
1167 when her husband the protostrator Alexios Axouchos was claustrated (he
was of Turkish origin & accused of sorcery).
The man Leo was asking about was nephew of the above Alexios Komnenos. The
junior namesake, born in 1136, was son of the sebastokrator Andronikos &
Eirene whose parentage is uncertain (she may have been a Greek or a Norman
from Sicily). This Alexios was protostrator & protosebastos, lover of
Empress Maria & leader of her regency council, murdered as a prisoner in
1183. His wife was Maria Doukaina (at least, she was described as
'doukoblastos', bud of the Doukas stem, but her parentntage is unknown. They
had a son Andronikos, who died young from a riding fall. Eudokia who married
Oddone Frangipane & later Guelfo di Paganello is speculated to be their
daughter, but there is no proof of this.
The biography of this younger Alexios should be in most encyclopedias.

This Eupraxia Irene is a different person all together.
And this Alexios as you said, married twice and both wifes were called
"Eupraxia" and baptised "Irene", The first was from Kiew and the second from
Georgia.
The wife of Alexios mentioned by Leo is also Eupraxia and was baptised Irene
and she was allegedly also from Kiew. My data which is over 30 years old,
agrees with that of Leo, except the name of Irene which in Leo's data is
AINOIADISSA and in my database is AINEIADIS.
The man Leo was asking about was nephew of the above Alexios Komnenos. The
junior namesake, born in 1136, was son of the sebastokrator Andronikos &

Eudokia Komninos who married Oddone Frangipane was the daughter of Isaac
Komninos and Irene Synadinos.
The same Irene also married Alexios Komninos, son of Ioannis Komninos Duke
of Durazzo (his wife was ANNA MARIA DOUKAS) and had a son "Andrianos" with
him.
I admit it is old information, but people those days did not manipulate data

No - the second wife of this Alexios was from Georgia and daughter of a king
, but her Greek name was Eudokia not Eirene, and she was originally called
Kata not Eupraxia.
No - the Alexios mentioned by Leo wsa married only once, to Maria
'doukoblastos'. His father, Andronikos, was married to Eirene who may have
been surnamed Aineidasa - but this is not definite & she may have been a
Norman from Sicily as I said before.
There is very obviously a misunderstanding, as the details you give are not
supported by anu current authority.
No - the parents of the Eudokia who married Oddone Frangipane are not known
for certain.
No - the sebastokrator Isaakios Komnenos married in 1144.45, as his second
wife, an Eirene called Diplosynadene, this name indicating that both her
parents were from the Synadenos family. However, their names & precise
connnections are not recorded. The Eirene Synadene who married Alexios (son
of Ioannes, doux of Dyrracheion, i.e. Durazzo) probably belonged to an
earlier generation than Eirene Diplosynadene. What is your evidence for
stating that she was the same woman?
Oh? And when exactly did ignorance and error make a start in genealogy? If
this was just within the past 30 years it will be easy enough to eradicate,
so by all means go to it. Otherwise, try to learn some manners as well as
some facts before you post again.

From what I see you are only twisting things to suit you.
If you read the message you replied, I am talking about Alexios mother. You
argue for no reason.
As you say, she was named "Dyplosynodinos" because both her parents were
Synodinos. In other words she was Synodinos.
The rest of your comments are also allegations, assumptions, etc.
SO I assume there is nothing new to add and not new information in order to
change anything.

You are posting utter nonsense - as you do so often.
The information you gave was simply wrong, and very confused.
I twisted nothing, and only the facts "suit" me anyway.
What possible motive could I have to "twist" relationships in the Komnenos
fmaily, which has been so intensively studied that no such distortion on SGM
could take effect? Do you think genealogy is a whimsical game?
If I get somethng wrong I am happy to admit it. If you get something wrong,
which is hardly unprecedented (as with your stubborn & inappropriate
rendering of "Synadinos" for the surname of a female), you fly off into
blatantly silly accusations against another poster. Why?
