According to one on-line site Lords of the Manor
http://www.methley-village.fsnet.co.uk/ ... manor.html Robert Waterton the King`s Esquire
married Cecily Fleming, heir to the Woodhall estate in Stanley nearby and had two
children that Sir Robert Waterton who was High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1441
and died childless 1476 when the four daughters of his sister Cecilia, Lady
Welles split the estate between them.

Dear Newsgroup,
According to a different website, the Midgley
family held Stanley Hall (Wrenthorpe) and also Woodhall, Yorkshire, England in the
Middle Ages and the manors passed through the Chaloner family to the Savile
family who held it at the end of the sixteenth century,
I guess a portion of Woodhall manor passed to the
Fleming family in the thirteenth or fourteenth century.

The Waterton family married into a daughter of the Fleming family of
Wath, Clifton (near Huddersfield) and Dalton - I am piecing together a
file of their ancestry and if anyone wishes to contribute, please do -
I hope to have the data to date posted within the next week.

David
