?? Credibility of "theroyalsociety.com" website & their DFA
Greetings,
A website (http://www.theroyalsociety.com) claims to provide one of the "most
sophisticated databases of Royal genealogy in the world."
Anyone have any insight into whether this site is legitimate? Or is
just a way to scam people out of $15 application fees and membership

Also, this site lists the following lineage from Alexander the Great to

The genealogies which appear on the page where you got that Alexander
the Great genealogy are junk. Not a one of them is valid (although
occasional individual links are valid within some of them). Even in
one case where there is a genuine line of descent (from Louis the
Pious to Henry I of England, for which there are a number of different
genuine lines), they use a fake descent instead by giving Robert the
Strong a wife who was supposedly a daughter of Louis (who had no such
daughter). (Note also that a couple of the genealogies go back in
time for a couple of generations before they start going forward in
time.)
Note: Any time you see a genealogy in which the wife of King Blank is
called Mrs. Blank, you should consider that a major "red flag" in
assessing the genealogy's reliability (or lack thereof).

RE: ?? Credibility of "theroyalsociety.com" website & their
I believe all progeny, male or female, of Alexander the Great, within
the bounds of his empire, were exterminated in the course of the dynastic
wars. If there are any genuine descendents of his anywhere, they are most
likely in India. A few generations after Alexander, his successors began
making up stories claiming descent from him or his father, to justify their
positions.
The coverpage of the site you refer to has quite a few specious
descents. As I recall it makes the empress Theodora, originally a commoner
from Cyprus, to be a daughter of a noble Theodora of Damascus. I treat its
material as speculation, sometimes worth further investigation, but not to
be believed without genuine reason.

Its credibility is a few degrees below nil - I suggest you read the
appallingly ill-phrased and pretentious "mission"statement and that shoud be
enough to save you the $15 fee.

Re: ?? Credibility of "theroyalsociety.com" website & their
The website is registered to one Brian Beets, of Blue Spring, MO.
$15 is cheap compared to some of the other "royal" sites on the web.
Most of them want hundreds to "verify" that you are indeed of royal
descent and send you a certificate.
