Nanney Pedigree - Wynnstay Manuscript

Hello,

I'm not sure this falls in the 'medieval' category,
but it's worth a shot.

I am looking for a 'gateway' ancestor. The ancestor I
am working backwards from is Rees Nanney, born
approximately 1680/1688 (don't know where - presumably
Wales?) and died in North Wales, Old Philadelphia
County, Pennsylvania, 1747. He was a Quaker and I
suspect part of the Great Quaker Migration of the
1680's (although perhaps as a child).

Here's where it gets iffy: Rees's father is John
Nanney, who is the son of John Nanney, son of William
Nanney and Elizabeth. The family supposedly lived in
Llwyn du, Llanaber, Co. of Merioneth.

The above information is reportedly taken from
Wynnstay MSS 143-4, which was transcribed by Joseph
Morris of Chester in 1832 from the original, compiled
by Owain
Salusbury of Rug and John Salusbury of Erbistock
between 1630 and 1677 and generally referred to as the
'Salusbury Pedigrees'. The original was destroyed in a
fire in 1858 and only the copy remains, in the
National Library of Wales.

My questions: has anyone heard, seen or worked with
this manuscript? If so, what is its accuracy?

Any thoughts on the Nanney family would be
appreciated, as well.

Thank you,

K. Abbott

These 2 MS are available on microfilm through the FHC system. The later
generations would be fairly certain as the MS are contemporaneous with the
time period in which you are interested.

I'm sorry I can't give you the microfilm numbers right now.
