Eleanor Limesy's husband: William or David Lindsay?

In 1906, Scots Peerage says, Vol III, p. 3, that Eleanor Limesi married
William Lindsay, a justiciar of Scotland and who died c. 1200.
This marriage is repeated over subsequent pages up to page 7. SP
references Testa de Nevill, 285.

In 1960 Sanders in his English Baronies, p. 30, reports that Eleanor m.
David I Lindsay of Crawford, d. bef. 1219, almost certainly the
son of the above William. Sanders gives a load of references
but the one to EYC IX, 231 is merely to a witness entry and is
no use!

In 2002, Keats-Rohan in Domesday Descendants, p. 548, confirms Sanders'
report though uses the same hopeless EYC reference plus a few
others which may or may not be better.

On the principle that the later research is likely to be the better
informed, I am inclined to place Eleanor as the wife of David Lindsay.
But then who was the mother of David's full siblings? Or did his
father, William, marry but once and were all his children from the one
wife?

The Limesy/Lindsay connection is discussed by Charles M. Hansen in "The
Pinkeny Claim to Scotland", The American Genealogist, 75(2000):277-92.

Hansen concludes that Alice [not Eleanor] de Limesy married William de
Lindsay.
