Perhaps someone can guide me over a brick wall:
Thomas Wiggin, Captain, b. 1592 in ?; d. 1666 NH, Colonies

Notes: Mass. Bay magestrate; Governor of Dover Patent; held court from ME
to MA; had sons Andrew and Thomas, Jr., dau Mary; m. 2nd Catherine
Whiting,
sis of Gov. Wm. Whiting (unknown first marriage).

Thomas had a 'letter of marque' against the French requested (1627) and
apparently some time thereafter took a 'prize' ship into a port at Isle of
Man.

Any comments or observations on finding the sourse for the Port books for
Bristol and Barnstaple, (and other ports) or any other records of the era
that would help me find his ship's name, owner and crew would be most
helpful. If I can find that information I will likely find clues to his
origins.

It seems so unusual that this man is so clouded in mystery during a time
when the written word was so prevelant. Gov. Winthrop put everything in
his
diaries excepting the origins of this man! Yet, he seemed to think highly
of the Captain.

Thanks for your considerations.
