I have found, in Josephus, the apparent reference to this individual.
Josephus tends to drone on and on about the intrigues that brought in one priest and
took out another. However for this person who, in translation is called,
Jesus the son of Phabet (however incongrous that sounds and almost as grating as
Joshua son of Fabus), Josephus, as far as I can tell, only has one single
statement.

In Antiquities XV.9.3 he says this person was deposed from being high priest
in favor of another person.

It's rather remarkable from silence that there is no mention of how he GOT to
be high priest, or who he might or might not have been related to any other
person.

So as we see, one of the few people about which Josephus says next to
nothing, is the one chosen by the high priesthood of false genealogies to hang yet
another pretended lineage onto. Very amusing.
