Sir Henry de Prayers' Verdun wife

Dear Newsgroup ~

There is a helpful biography of Sir Henry de Prayers (living
1287-1301), of Dorsington, Warwickshire and Strixton,
Northamptonshire, in the journal, Publications of the Bedfordshire
Historical Record Society, 25 (1947): 79-80. According to his
biography, Sir Henry de Prayers's wife was a sister of Theobald de
Verdun. Presumably the Theobald de Verdun intended is Sir Thebaud de
Verdun, 1st Lord Verdun (c. 1242-1309), of Alton, Staffordshire [see
Plantagenet Ancestry (2004): 734-735 (sub Verdun)].

The reference given for the Prayers-Verdun marriage is the following
source which I have not seen:

Silver Seal of Thomas de Prayers, Archaeologia, 22 (1842), app. pg.
407.

The Prayers-Verdun marriage sounds like an interesting connection.
I'd be interested in knowing what evidence supports this marriage. I
believe Sir Henry de Prayers had modern descendants. The biography
mentions a son and heir, Henry de Prayers, who was active in the
period, 1311/1322. If anyone has additional particulars on the
Prayers family, I'd appreciate hearing from them here on the
newsgroup.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

My data indicates only two brothers for Theobald, First Lord of Verdun -
John and Nicholas, but no sisters.

The Verdun line seems to have died out two more generations down the line.

Cheers,

Nona, London
