Dear Group,

According to http://www.genealogics.com, John Honford (b. abt 1435 in
Honford, Cheshire, d. abt 1480) is a descendant of Edward I. Does
anyone have the descent?

Thanks in advance,

Roger Tansey

"Roger Tansey" <roger_tansey@ksg04.harvard.edu> asked:

This subject was apparently discussed sometime ago; the (undated) string can
be found in the Gen-Medieval-L Archives as follows:

Chris K. Moore wrote:

In Neil Thompson's article in _The Genealogist_ a few years ago on the
ancestry of Frances Cotton Abell(mother of New England immigrant Robert
Abell), the author observed that John Hondford of Cheshire (probably
born in the middle third of the 1400s) who would be #58 in FCA's
ahnen(tafel/reihe), "was a descendant of Edward I". Does anyone know
the intervening generations of this descent?

Todd A. Farmier responded:

Without context, it is hard to tell, but I suspect that if it said this
it was in error. I know of no such descent. The wife of John Honford,
though, has a well documented Edward descent through Savage, Stanley,
Goushill, Fitz Alan, and Bohun.
