According to _The Throckmorton Family_, p. 414, Jane Throck-
morton, wife of Sir St. John Marney, was dau. of John Throck-
morton (d. 1472), of Lee, etc., Gloucestershire, who m. (1) Anne,
dau. and heir of Thomas Scargill; (2) Anne Naufan (probably
a mistake for Nanfan). John Throckmorton was son of John
Throckmorton (d. 1473) of Lone, Gloucestershire, and his wife,
Isabel, dau. and heiress of Edward Bruges (Brydges), of Lone.
The last-named John Throckmorton was younger son of John
Throckmorton (d. 1445), of Coughton, Warwickshire, Chamber-
lain of the Exchequer and Under-Treasurer of England, and his
wife, Alianore de la Spine, heiress of Coughton. The male-line
ancestry of John Throckmorton (d. 1445) is traced back 10
more generations. The family originated at Throgmorton, in
Fladbury, Worcestershire.

Re: Throckmorton/Berkeley
Dear Brice
Thankyou for that helpful information. Is is known who John Throckmorton's (father of Jane) mother was? Anne Scargill or Anne Nanfan?
Do you know of an on-line site which accurately plots the ancestry of the Throckmortons? You mentioned that there were a further 10 generations.
Best wishes

You would be better off to look at one of the premier sources itself:
_A Genealogical and Historical Account of the Throckmorton Family in England
and the United States_ by C. Wickliffe Throckmorton is available on
microfilm through the your local LDS Family History Center (in America these
films cost $3.50 to rent for one month).
I also believe a limited number of copies might also be available for
purchase ($50 US) through Jean V. Helms or Col. Robert W. Thorckmorton.
Check out http://www.throckmortonfamily.com for more info -
Good luck.
