It is with deep regret that I advise you of the loss of Jack Brown.
Jack left us in his sleep friday morning the 12th of November.

Jack was a frequent participant on this site.

This is sad news. Jack and I had corresponded quite a bit, because of
our mutual interest in the genealogy of various Scandinavian figures
of the Viking Age. As I understand it, his illness kept him at home,
and he spent much of his time on the computer, but he also made every
effort to read as many books and articles on the Vikings as he could
get his hands on by either purchase or interlibrary loan. He and I
did quite a bit of trading photocopies of journal articles on the
Vikings, and there are quite a few articles which I would not have
(or, in some cases, even be aware of) if not for his generosity.
Although he was only an occasional poster to the newsgroup, I know
that he will be missed by those who corresponded with him.
