Dear Newsgroup ~

Below is a new and expanded ancestry table for Maud de la Mare (living
1280), wife of Peter de Montfort (died 1287) of Beaudesert,
Warwickshire. This table is based on my recent research on the de la
Mare ancestry. Due to Maud's legion number of descendants, I know
many newsgroup members will be keenly interested in this information.
Please note that the parentage of Maud de la Mare's mother, Joan,
still hasn't yet been established.

I wish to thank my friend and colleague, Mike Anthony, for his
valuable assistance in the preparation of this ancestry table.

Comments are invited.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

Many thanks for this information. Is it possible that you can let us
have the references as well in which I for one would be even more
keenly interested?

Dear Doug, et al.,

Thanks for cc'ing that post. Most interesting - and, as Tim asked, when
you can forward info re: the sources that would be great.

Following is an interesting later record I found, which casts more
possibilities and questions into the mix, concerning one John de la Mare who
was the 2nd husband of Petronilla de Dunstanville, dau. and heiress of Walter
'III' de Dunstanville heiress of Castle Combe and Heytesbury, co. Wilts. & c.

This John de la Mare was probably a 2nd or more distant cousin of Maud de
la Mare; it would seem a good bet, his g-grandfather may have been your AT
#8, Sir William de la Mare of Ashtead and Mitcham, given his own holding in
Mitcham at his IPM (1313).

What makes the connection most interesting, this John de la Mare was
obviously the John of Bradwell, Essex; he had grants dated 2 May 1283, from
King Edward I for a market and fair to be held " at the manor " of Bradwell
[CChR, 1257–1300, p. 265; Granted again to John de la Mare on 14 Jun 1283
(CChR, 1257–1300, p. 266)].

This seems to be fitting together with your posted pedigree like this
[conjectured connection of the two de la Mare lines indicated _ _ _ _ _ _ ]:

Sir William de la Mare = Basile
of Ashtead and Mitcham I
_______________________I_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Hope this is helpful.
