Josephine Jacobsen was born June 24, 1862 in Norway. From family stories,
I am guessing she was in Oslo between 1876 and 1884, very roughly. I am
looking for her parents, siblings, place of birth. When she immigrated she
came with her older sister Mathilda. Please send any help to
ferma001@umn.edu

Thank you, John Ferman, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Do you have any additional information, such as the birth year of Mathilda
and when they emigrated? Was it 1884? Where in the US did they go? Why do
you think they were in Kristiania (Oslo) between 1876 and 1884?

Josephine's birthdate is known from family records; Mathilda was older by

a couple of years, maybe.
Josephine's eldest child was born in December 1886; so I am assuming she
was married around December 1885. So the 1884 immigration year is an
educated guess. Josephine immigrated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and appears
in the 1895 Minnesota state census. She died in 1899.at age 36.

Jack,

Could conceivably be this individual from the 1875 Census:

70301.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=75276&fulle=true&spraak=e>

Both birth year and two year older sibling, Mathilde, fit. Also the
link to Kristiania (Oslo) fits.

I could not find any individuals with the exact spelling, birth year
and sibling that you referred to, so the above is my best guess. One
may be able to
find her (and/or her parents/siblings) in the 1865 Census (although I
haven't tried that) at the same site. You may be able to find
emigration data here, as well.

Regards,
Sigurd
