In the 1865 census, the family status of a woman is listed as
"Logerende", while the sivilstand is abbreviated with the letter "f".

Can someone tell me what these mean?

Thanks,

John

Hi John!
The 'logerende' means a lodger.
The 'f' means divorced = 'fraskilt'
Here's a list of abbreviations:

Hi John,

Isn't that "tenant occupant"? As in "Not owner, but renting and working
the farm"? The f. could mean anything (born?). Otto Joergensen's site at
http://home.online.no/~otjoerge/files/word.htm might be of use to you as well.

Drop me an email offline, my folks have some pictures you might like
to see from their recent trip.

See Olaf Kringshaug's answer. Logerende is _not_ the renting and working
person, but someone who is staying in the house and paying for it.
f. as "born" would not have been used in "sivilstand". "Sivilstand" is
e.g. single, married, widow(er), divorced.

Hi all ~

Thanks for the great answers. I learned that "f" under sivilstand means
"fraskilt" (divorced).

John
