[Meta] Reduced functionality in Agent 3.1
I have been trying Agent 3.1, but notice that some features available
in earlier versions are missing, or so well hidden that I cannot find
them:
1) Importing text into a message.
Earlier versions could import a text file into a message, but 3.1
seems to insist that it must be a Unix message format. Has this
function been removed, or just so well hiddenthat I can't find it?
This is something that I have frequently used in Genealogy newsgroups
- to import the output of another program in order to share the
information.
2) I'm forever pressing F to follow-up a news article, and nothing
happens. Has the keyboard shortcut been disabled?
3) When trying to mark text for deletion etc, pressing Shift-Downarrow
scrolls the whole screen, and does not mark the text. Has the keyboard
shortcut been disabled?
Is it just me, or does the new version have reduced functionality?
Is anyone else using it -- do you know where these features have been
hidden?

under the list of all folders -- meaning that I have to search to find
it when I want to modify a message before sending it.
OTOH, the fact that I can now use ONE Agent configuration to
properly access THREE (four if you count earthlink west and east) news
servers, rather than needing three separate directories with custom INI
files, and running three instances of Agent.
Did you read the "change" notice on Forte's site?

Unified into a simple "R"eply (if a mail message, it creates an
email reply, if a news message, it creates a news reply). This did take
me a while to get used to... If one wants to do an email reply to a
usenet post it now takes a bit more work.

Must be your machine, it works properly for me.
Is it just me, or does the new version have reduced functionality?
Only thing I don't like is that the Outbox is now another "folder"
under the list of all folders -- meaning that I have to search to find
it when I want to modify a message before sending it.

Dennis, I see your questions have been answered here - which is good.
However, the best place to get answers about Agent is probably:
alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent
