Genealogy program for Linux?

Legg inn av Richard Hollenbeck » 12 des 2004 20:14:13

Before I switched to SUSE Linux 9.2 Professional, I used Windows 98 and
XP. I could easily find software to run my gedcom data. Now I'm having a
tough time finding any genealogy software that's UNIX/Linux compatible.
Is there something decent out there? Where? What's it called, etc?

Many thanks!

I think Gramps and Lifelines would be the two main ones to look
for.

Yes and GeneWeb http://pauillac.inria.fr/~ddr/GeneWeb

For LifeLines, you can find more recent reports using CVS than current
version 3.0.37-2 (large update previous July).

Gramps is perhaps the most common one.

For Gramps, you need up-to-date Gnome libraries. I can't compile it and
I don't need a X software, curses is faster.

I'm using Cumberland on Windows (main program) et LifeLines/GeneWeb on
Linux.

Others have given you good answers, but might I suggest that a visit
to sourceforge.net would prove useful to you on this and many other Linux
topics?
