1881 British Census Discs

Legg inn av Neil Paterson » 05 des 2004 20:16:09

Hi,

I only ever use the two discs that cover Scotland from this set so can
anyone tell me whether it is possible to copy the data from both discs
onto my hard disk and get the Resource File Viwer program to access both
sets of data from there instead of having to swap the discs over in the
CD drive whenever I need change from Lowlands to Highlands Scotland.

Thanks
Neil

The information on this can be found at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... d/1881.htm

I recommend putting ALL the disks onto a hard drive since some of your
relatives will have left Scotland for other parts, and finding them by
searching each region is a real PAIN. The 1881 takes about 13.5 Gbytes. If
you add the Vital records, Immigration data and the others, you would need
about 25 Gbytes.

BEWARE the warning about the risks of using REGEDIT.
