New York Passengr List 1863-1865

Hello fellow researchers

I am interested in finding out a little more information regarding some
german relatives of mine. They emigrated from Baden, Germany somewhere
between 1863 and 1865, (ship or port of departure unknown), to New york
City. Their details are:

Ernest (Ernst) FREYLER b circa1846 in Baden (occupation-Tinsmith)
Lena (maybe Helena etc) FREYLER (nee HUBER) b circa 1846 in Baden
Is it possible for someone with access to Ancestry.com to look up their
emigration details, ship name, dates etc. In return, If it is of any use, I
have access to the Staffordshire & Kent 1841 census and I am prepared to do
a lookup or two in exchange.

Best regards

Rob

You can do this yourself by using the free access at

No credit card is required, nothing to buy, Ancestry has
opened this database (and one other) until Oct 29 -
entirely free :-)

Hi Rob

Since you had no success searching in NY Passenger Lists
1851-1891, that leaves 3 thoughts -

1. their names are misindexed, or missed entirely from the
index

2. they arrived via another port

3. the year of immigration is incorrect

That leads to 3 questions:

1. Are you sure of your port of arrival? How did you find
out they came in via New York?

2. Did you search under variant spellings for their names?
Did you try wildcard searches?

3. How did you find out their year of immigration?

If you haven't searched variant spellings or used
wildcards, you might want to take a look at the Help File
on Using Search Engines (especially Ancestry.com's) at
http://olivetreegenealogy.blogspot.com/

Look for "Using Search Engines to Find Ancestors "
