But what do you think is the best genealogy software to organize and
present your family tree?

I would like a free trial period (without credit card to see if it will
work for us). I would also like it to be able to add pictures and movies.

Try this http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/ a free download for the standard
edition. I have had no problems so far with this great utility.

Thanks Robert, I did try it. It looks like you have to already have a
GEDCOM file which I don't have. Is there a way to start from scratch?

No it should start from scratch if you have ano gedcom
Just click File and New Family File and away you go
