Question about one immigrant

Legg inn av don Corleone » 09 okt 2004 19:01:12

http://www.ellisisland.org is one magnificent website and I appreciate VERY much
their efforts but unfortunately it seems that one lost relative of mine, who
was on board S/S Saxonia of Cunard Line, has used the port of Boston as the
company used both ports. I don't know for sure if the date of departure from
Liverpool was 11th of Sept. 1907.

thanks

Mike

Yes she does, though I'm not sure what name she might have used in USA. In

here she was known as Ms. Lyydia Kari (born 24th Jan 1884)

Take a look at the family tree posted here.

Search under Kari, Lyydia. Unless this is your posting it may help.

I can send the 1910 census image to you if you provide an email address.

I tried to mail you but the message bounced back.. So here is my e-mail:

jariafikalis@hotmail.com

I suspect she could be the same Mrs Lydia Higgins from Dover, Norfolk, MA
which I found from SSDI but I don't have any means to verify that.

I am sending the 1910 census image where she appears with the last name of
Kari. The Lydia Higgins you mention above appears in the 1930 census with
her mother and she is born in Massachusetts.

Thank you very many for the image. If Lydia Higgins is not the same person,

then it seems I have a bigger problem than I thought... Her birthday seemed
to fit so well into the picture since its quite usual that US authorities
mix person's birthday and the day of christening.
So the SSDI does not know any Lydia Kari, so I assume its likely she got
married at some point but also the search with her true birthdate returns
nothing... Any ideas how to go on - or is this a hopeless case ?

All you need to do then is get the microfilm that covers
that month and year.

You can order films in to a nearby Family
History Centre, or have NARA do the job (once you have
precise details)

You can get a list of film
numbers (NARA & FHC) at
http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/nar ... port.shtml

Scroll down to the state you want and click on the link,
then find the film # you need

Hello Jari,
The Morton Allen Directory
<http://www.stevemorse.org/ellis/cimorelli.html> shows the Saxonia
arriving in Boston on the following dates near the date you have...

Aug. 29, 1907
Sept. 26, 1907
Oct. 22, 1907

All from Liverpool.

You might check those arrivals (particularly the Sept 26th arrival) on
the Boston microfilm or search the microfilmed Boston index for your
passenger. For microfilm information see...

Boston Passenger Lists 1891-1943
http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/bostonlists1891.html

Boston Passenger Lists Index 1902-1920
http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/boston1902.html

Good luck with your search.

Regards,
Joe

Thanks Joe. I allready located her (with great assistance from Mike S) in
1910 Census in Worcester City as unmarried servant. What happens then before
the 1930's cencus is still a mystery.
