Lundins from Sweden to New England in mid to late 1800s

Legg inn av C.L. » 09 okt 2004 04:11:27

Greetings. I have hit a brick wall searching my mother's side, and am
wondering if anyone can help.

I am looking for any info on the following persons:

Carl Lundin (I think the middle initial is T, maybe Thure)

and

Josephine Lundin (I think her maiden name was Wickander or something
similar).

I think Carl was born in 1878 and Josephine in 1879.

Both immigrated to the USA from Sweden, but I don't know the date, port of
entry, where in Sweden, etc.

I know they were in Rhode Island (probably Pawtucket) in the fall of 1910.

The above is all the info that I have on Carl and Josephine -- help!!!

I am an Ancestry subscriber, but have not found any info there or anywhere
else.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Carl

There was quite a number of "Lundin" that emigrated to the US.

I found one family on the Emigranten CD, that might be interesting if you
have further relatives to compare with (it´s the 15 year old Carl that might
be your Carl):

They left Sweden 1891-09-04.

Please feel free to contact me directly, if you have further questions. My

It would appear that the Carl Lund with the middle name Thura is different
from the Carl Lund married to Josephine, but maybe not...

This Carl Lund is married to a woman named Gerda and has 2 sons, Verner and
Vincent, born in Rhode Island and he immigrated in 1902:
Carl Lundin found in:
Census Microfilm Records: Massachusetts, 1920
Age: 41
Gender: M
Race: W
Birthplace: SWEDEN
State: MA
County: WORCESTER
Locale: 1-WD WORCESTER
Series: T625
Roll: 749
Part: 2
ED: 194
Page: 44A

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Carl Thura Lundin
City: Worcester
County: Worcester
State: Massachusetts
Birthplace: !
Birth Date: 29 Apr 1878
Race: White
Roll: 1674463
DraftBoard: 1

This Carl Lundin is married to Josephine and immigrated in 1905:
Name: Carl Landin (looks like Lundin to me)
Age in 1910: 32
Estimated Birth Year: 1877
Home in 1910: 2-WD PAWTUCKET, PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island
Race: White
Gender: Male
Series: T624
Roll: 1441
Part: 1
ED: 121
Page: 11A
Year: 1910

However, I find immigration years on the census are often wrong, so it could
be the same man with a first and second wife, or the same man with the same
wife who is known by 2 different names (although the middle initial M on the
draft reg. makes that less likely). Hopefully something there will ring a
bell and you can get pointed in the right direction.

Oops, I accidentally hit "change" instead of "ignore" on the spell-check
when I sent that. When I tried to halt it and correct it, it sent anyway.
Anyway, where it says "Lund" it should have been "Lundin." Correction below:
