SACHS Heraldry

Legg inn av cwsachs.dejazzd.com » 28 sep 2004 15:22:06

While doing research in a local genealogy related library, I came across
several volumes of "Illustrations to the Amorial General", by J. B.
Rietstap (Heraldic Book Company of Baltimore, 1967

I found seven "thumbnail-sized", black and white, illustrations of SACHS
coats of arms or heralds:

Sachs - France
Sachs - Nueemburg (2 references)
Sachs - Nuremburg, Nassau
Sachs - Sindelar-Sachs, Boheme
Sachs - de Lewenheim, Allem
Sachs - Edle van Harteneck, Transylvanie

I know that (at least back to 1602) MY Sachs folks were of rather
humble stock, and probably have no right to use, or connection to anyone
who can claim the use of any of the "arms" pictured.

MY questions - where can I find more information or to whom the seven
"arms" were issued?

Are these "arms" pictured somewhere in color?

In other words, what does it all mean?

Any help/advice will be most appreciated . . .

This site..
http://www.heraldica.org/topics/index.html

has a section on France (in English)...
http://www.heraldica.org/topics/france/

also page on who has the right to bear arms
http://www.heraldica.org/topics/right.htm
explains that the rules on who can carry arms has changed over the years. It
differs in each country.
