Is anyone having problems accessing census images on ancestry.com. The past
couple of days I have been getting the following message: " Error Decoding
Image -- Error Downloading Data from Server." I cannot access the 1840,
1850, 1860, 1900 or 1920, etc. census images at all. These may all be MrSID
images. I have reinstalled the plugin and also checked for ActiveX
controls. Is it possible the problems are being caused by the security
settings in the Windows SP2 package?
Any information or suggestions appreciated.

No problem here, WinXpHome + sp2.

Yes, there is a problem for some users. There was a recent thread over on
soc.genealogy.computing about it, which you can find by Googling that group
with "sp2 MrSid" as I did (without the quotes). The problem may actually be
with Ancestry's server. I'm having the same problem but I haven't tried to
fix it yet.

Thank you Dick. After reviewing the various threads after making a Google
search, I was able to correct the problem by switching from "Browse" mode to
"Detail" Mode for the image viewing. I have sent a query to ancestry. Will
let the group know if I get a response. Thanks again.

Well, I'm always glad to help in those limited circumstances when I actually
have some information.
