Maggie Hunt was my grandmother. On her wedding certificate (1901) there are
two
witnesses: Wilhelmina Hunt and John L. Topliss.
The groom, my grandfather was Robert Illemann. Maggie and Robert have the
same address on wedding certificate, something that always puzzled us,
until we found in the 1901 UK Census that they had separate households at
that address, and... Robert Illemann was mispelled as Robert Elleman..
(probably the house owner filled out the census form and made that mistake).
Census also says that he was "born in America" but we've been unable to
find anything (so far) or for his father, Louis Illemann.
The ILLEMANN family originates in Germany/Denmark, see
http://surfbest.net/~illemann@surfbest.net/illemann.htm
(which has not been updated with the familysearch info yet)
Thanks in advance,
Alan (replace illemann with alananne for email)

My sister in the UK just emailed me this "I have a copy of the census
register 1901 showing Wilhelmina Hunt, General Servant (Domestic),
in the household of Harry and Hilda Mason at 2 Hendham Road,
Springfield ward, Wandsworth, London. Single, aged 17, born
Yorkshire, Bradford. The ref of the sheet is RG13/48 I deduced that
having followed her elder sister to London, she was the nearest
member of the family and so witnessed the wedding of Maggie and
Robert."
Can anyone confirm this birth, etc?

Re: lookup please 1850? Wilhelmina Hunt, in London UK
Nearest I could see in the UK 1901 is...
Name Age Where Born Administrative County Civil Parish Occupation
Louis Herrmann 27 America U S A Foreign Sub London Hackney House
Painter
Might be worth looking at the image in case "ILL" has been transcribed
as an "H" somehow.
There are only 17 other Louis in the census - any idea what is
occupation might have been?
This one from FreeBMD looks like it might also be one of yours?....
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

----
Births Sep 1902

----
Illemann Lord Louis R Pancras 1b 48
Perhaps he inherited his title - eg father died during the previous 9
months?

Thanks Colin. Yes, my father's name was Lord Louis Robert Illemann
but think the "Lord" was some sort of cruel joke. Our family only knew
him as Robert (Bob for short) Illeman (no second 'n')
My grandmother's name was Maggie Hunt and I think
<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/Census/household_record.asp?HOUSEHOL
D_CODE=1881BR_4636642&HOUSEHOLD_SUB=1&frompage=99>
is the family. My sister thinks that Wilhelmina was born later but I'm not
to sure
as the very name "Wilhelmina" is so foreign (possibly German) sounding.
Where did you find those two references?

Alan (replace illemann with alananne for email)
