May I help anyone here with Washington State info? For FREE

Legg inn av Ephraim » 16 sep 2004 07:01:21

Hi,
I'm in Seattle and am retired. I can go to the public library and the
Seattle Genealogical Society and look Seattle area and some Washington State
stuff up for people. The public library has scads of out-of-state stuff as
well that you might not be able to find in your necks of the woods.

I can only do this about ten hours a week because of my health but would be
glad to help.

It's the least I can do, since I'm going to be sending tons of lookup
requests and other questions to you.
Thanks,
Ephraim

Can you look for an obituary for Sarah Elizabeth Hapeman? She died May
16, 1958 in Snohomish Co., WA. She was the wife of Guy Hapeman. She
may be listed as Elizabeth or Lizzie. Thanks so much for sharing.

Pat,

"Elizabeth Hapeman died May 16, 1958 at age 66 in Everett WA" That is
according to the Washington State Death Record Index. The certificate # is
9936.. You'd have to check with the vital records departments. The
state web site is http://access.wa.gov/.; Snohomish County's is
http://www1.co.snohomish.wa.us/

If this obit is printed, it would be in the "Everett Herald" which either of
us can be borrow through the inter-library loan system. If your library
participates in this system, you can borrow it through them. Otherwise, I
can
borrow it and look it up

Per the Soc Sec Death Index, a Guy Hapeman was born on 8/15/1879 and died on
5/15/1967. His SS # was 536-50-8709. His residence at death was Langley,
WA. He is the only Guy Hapeman in the SSDI. There is no Elizabeth Hapeman
in the SSDI

The SSDI shows several other Hapemans:
Claude, b. 3/16/1894, d. July 1970, residence at death Anacortes WA
Corleen, b. 7/11/1924, d. 6/18/1995, residence at death, Edmonds, WA
James, b. 12/8/1889, d. March 1970, residence at death, Langley, WA
Marie, b. 8/27/1891, d. March 1992, Anacortes, WA
Marie, b 3/16/1901, d. Nov 1982, residence at death, Langley, WA

For what it's worth I found in the "Polk City Directory" the following
listings:

1957 & 1958/59: Hapeman, James student r3604 Oakes Ave
1956 Hapeman, Jas L. emp Weyerhauser r2601
Hoyt Ave

Let me know if I can do anything else.
Ephraim

Hi Ephraim. I wonder if there is anything about the following
individual in the Seattle library about the following man. He would have
been my second cousin once removed, if he was still alive. I got this
information from a Maring researcher, but like to try to confirm information
through other sources. Also there is said to be a book on the Maring family
of Washington state. Is it at the Seattle library and does it pertain to
the family of this man? Thanks so much for your offer to help. bb

"Cassius Clay MARING [1 Mar 1863, MI--21 Apr 1905] m. Francett
Plummer [b. 27 Mar 1866] 30 Jul 1890. Resided in Portland, Oregon
1884--1888. Moved to Seattle, Washington in 1888. A biographical sketch is
in the 1916 History of Seattle, Vol. III, published by S. J. Clarke. It
says there that he drew Washington's portrait for the state seal."

I just searched the library's online catalog and didn't find it,
though I did find Vols 1-2 of Bagley Wright's History of Seattle.

the online catalog for the Seattle Public Library is at:
