William Ernest Caldwell in 1930 census
Looking for William Ernest Caldwell (usually just went by "Ernest"), b.
1896, in Missouri in 1930. He was probably in Ripley County but could've
gone to St. Louis by then. He was married to Clara and had about 5 children
at least, by then, beginning with Eunice, b. 1917.
TIA,
Nancy

Thank you for your images. Trouble is, I wonder where her mother and father
were. Could you please check St. Louis for William Ernest (might have only
used "Ernest") Caldwell in the 1930 census? He would've been listed as 33
or 34 years old. Of course you know it was not always accurately
documented. I had thought Clara died after 1930 but that might not be so.
Is there a widowed Ernest living anywhere in MO.?

Re: William Ernest Caldwell in 1930 census
Thanks Pat but these are not ours. Did you try just looking up Ernest
Caldwell ... dropping the William? That is probably what he went by.
Ernest would've been 33 or 34 years old. Clara, about 32 years old, was
probably with him at the time. Don't know why his kids were with
grandparents unless they were staying there on a vacation of sorts. Thanks.

Re: William Ernest Caldwell in 1930 census
One more thing. Ernest (or Ernie) was probably still in Ripley County,
rather than St. Louis, but could be either place. Thanks for searching so
hard.

Still not the right ones but the other children, besides Eunice, born by
1930 were Joseph William, Lewis Edmonds, Glenn Eugene and Betty Ruth
Caldwell.
As they say, close but no cigar!

Re: William Ernest Caldwell in 1930 census
Nancy,
The MO State Archives has a free web page that may be useful. It lists
deaths, births and still births from some of those years. There are lots of
Caldwells, but you can make more sense of it than I can.
http://www.searchsystems.net/list.php?nid=34 Click on "birth records" and
"death records". You can also click on "city databases" and "county
databases" to see if they have any information that's relevant to your
search. Hope this helps.
