My great grandmother apparently told her son that her mother was Anna Rener.
This i found from her death certificate in california.
However, the czech archives told me her mother was magdalena Stoska, from
Austerlitz.
I am wondering which is right. Perhaps the death certificate name of Anna
Rener is actually the mother of the magdalena stoska.
Any clues or hunches or info would be appreciated.
thanks

Re: Stoska/Renner?
Death certificates usually had some input from surviving children - children who
didn't actually know the grandparents. One of my grandparents, on her death
certificate has a name of Mary Bohlen as her mother, although at her marraige
the name Gertrud Willms is listed as her mother. Bohlen as a last name does
show up farther back/up in the tree. It is also the name of one of the witneses
at the marraige.
Keep searching.

You are right about my grammar. I must have been absent from school
during those lessons.
However, thanks to everyone who responded and helped me with my questions.
I do sincerely appreciate your help.

Re: Stoska/Renner?
It could be that Anna Rener was her father's second wife, and the woman
who raised your great-grandmother. I have a great-great grandmother who
was born out of wedlock, and her death certificate lists her mother's
husband as her father, and the name of her real father is not there at
all. Remember too, that the information given for a death certificate
is only as accurate as the knowledge of the person who was giving the
information.
Hope that helps,
Cathy
