Old Photo Restoration

Legg inn av Gjest » 14 nov 2007 05:29:21

I am an amateur photo restorer and am just starting to get into
genealogy. I have some pictures from the early 1900s that are damaged
beyond my skill level. I was wondering what you gurus would recommend
for a commercial restoration service? I have looked at samples from
some of the popular photo restoration sites:

http://www.amerphotorestoration.com
http://www.fadedphoto.com
http://www.hollywoodfotofix.com

Having reviewed these sites, there is a great varying degree between
prices. I am also hesitant to send photo's in the mail, as they might
be damaged. I would appreciate any feedback and personal experiences
you could provide.

Have you considered any of the software products available for working
with images, PhotoShop, being a major tool that can do a great deal of
restoration work.

Makes sense!

I also use Photoshop Elements, and it will do great things. I think perhaps
when I really work at it my restorations approach the professional ones.
Oftentimes I end up with a photo that is better than the original when it
was knew. (I'm not bragging----I'm just pointing out that an inept person
like me can use Photoshop with some success. :-)
