Immigrant Information please

Legg inn av Joe Twitchin » 10 nov 2007 23:27:13

I have retrieved from the 'net' a form 1-121 (Admission Card) issued by the
US Dept of Justice Immigration and Naturalisation Service covering the entry
of an alien (British) dated Dec 11 1950.
His destination was San Francisco and it says further 'en route to
Australia' and his intended length of stay in USA was 10 days.
A further entry says 'Pre-examined in Ontario and found admissable'.
He did not arrive in Australia until late 1952.
Would he have been allowed to stay in USA longer than the 'intended' 10 days
and would he have been required to make some sort of application to do so?

Several possibilities:

1. He went back to Canada and re-entered the US at a latter date.
2. He applied for a work visa which allowed him to stay in the US
3. He was illegal and hid out in North Beach, serving espressos to the
tourists.

Do you have him arriving on a ship in 1952? Where did it sail from?

I dont know precisely when he came to OZ but it must have been late 1952 to
early 1954 as he visited me around that time.
He was/is a cousin and at that time he had no family.
He left here sometime later for South Africa and I have searched there (all
sites) without success.
Just curious to learn what may have happened to him.
