WWI Registration card.

Legg inn av Michelle, Sabrina's Mom » 04 nov 2007 14:05:56

I am trying to see if this card states the relation of nearest relative. The
nearest relative is Andre Courtois. But I can't read if there is a space for
relation. Can someone take a look and tell me what they think. The image is

I don't see a relationship mentioned, but in the 1910 Census, Andrew
(Andre?), age 12, was Theophile's eldest son.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for replying. Yes, I know there is a son Andrew in the 1910 census. I
have the census image. His correct name is Andre. I also could assume that
the name mentioned on the registration card is that Andre that is listed on
the 1910 census, I just wanted to be sure as I am trying to find out the
father of Theophile.

Wow, great that is wonderful. I know of one other Theophile Courtois, but I

think he was born in 1901 and settled in Manchester NH. Although the right
birth year there I am skeptical as Theophile also had a brother Napoleon.
Which is listed in his obituary. I don't I just want to be sure. I am going
to go see if I can get a death certificate. Would that list his place of
birth and parents?

I find Theophile Courtois being married in Lowell in 1896.
It lists his parents. If you'd like I'll email you an image.

Thanks Bruce, Old Man Scanlon (Thanks Ray!) sent me an marriage log image

for the city of Lowell for June of 1896 from the Massachusetts Archives. The
image documents my Theophile, as he was married to a Victoria Montbleau
(Monbleau?). On the document it states Theophile's parents as Moise and
Clotilde Lonetin. Although the name Lonetin is given to Clotilde on this
document, I don't believe that to be her correct name. But I could be wrong.
I am going to see if I can get a death record Monday as I don't believe
Theophile was born in the US. But then again, I could be wrong.

Thanks everyone!

It is also possible that Napolean was born after the census was taken. If
you notice the age of the parents, mom was still in the child bearing years,
and the children were born at a regular rate, especially in a good Catholic
family.

Wow, great that is wonderful. I know of one other Theophile Courtois,
but I think he was born in 1901 and settled in Manchester NH. Although
the right birth year there I am skeptical as Theophile also had a
brother Napoleon. Which is listed in his obituary. I don't I just want
to be sure. I am going to go see if I can get a death certificate.
Would that list his place of birth and parents?

It should, provided the person providing the information for the
certificate knew for sure.

Bruce

Thanks Bruce, Old Man Scanlon (Thanks Ray!) sent me an marriage log image
for the city of Lowell for June of 1896 from the Massachusetts Archives.
The image documents my Theophile, as he was married to a Victoria
Montbleau (Monbleau?). On the document it states Theophile's parents as
Moise and Clotilde Lonetin. Although the name Lonetin is given to
Clotilde on this document, I don't believe that to be her correct name.
But I could be wrong. I am going to see if I can get a death record
Monday as I don't believe Theophile was born in the US. But then again, I
could be wrong.

Thanks everyone!

The 1910 census lists his birthplace as Canada French, and as the
birthplace of his parents also.
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie,

I have the 1910 census for this family in Lowell, Massachusetts. I do see
that it states Theophile Courtois was born in Canada. However, the marriage
log record that Ray sent me for Theophile and his wife Victoria documents
Theophile as being born in the US. It can't be true. I am going to take
Theophile's parents names, which were on the marriage log certificate Ray
sent me, and go up to the ACGS in Manchester NH and consult the Blue Drouin
books for a marriage. Hopefully it will be there. If I can find out from
Drouin where they were married and they stuck around in that place for any
amount of time I can probably find their children, or some of them at least.

Thanks for all your help

If you notice the age of the parents, mom was still in the child bearing
years, and the children were born at a regular rate, especially in a good
Catholic family.
Bonnie
Lol, Thanks Bonnie. I have noticed that most of my female French Canadian

ancestor's had a child every year during the child bearing years. I have a
Great Great Grandpere that had 22 children. Yikes! However, they were
between 2 different wives. The first wife had died during child birth : (

Michelle: OR, if you have Ancestry Canada you can read Drouin sitting
at home or your local library. Don't know where you are searching or
what date and my French is abysmal or I'd try to give you a hint.

My line, as far as I know it, is:

Matthew b. c1798 Ballintogher, Sligo
William b. c1833 Devonport?
James b. c1866 Dublin?

James came to Rhode Island in the 1880s. I don't know
anything about Matthew and William's possible siblings, so
the unsatisfying answer to your question is "maybe."

That's the answer I get more often than not. :) Anyway, we'll keep
searching...
