1700 New York?

Researching my g(5)gfather Daniel Cooper, Sr. ... the oft-repeated story is
that his parents "emigrated from Holland to New York, in the year 1695. It
is said that he [Daniel] was born at sea on their voyage, and that the
father never arrived. He was born May 1st, 1695." though another family
researcher says that Daniel's father "left England during the days of
persecution and went to Holland where he married a Dutch woman whose name
has been lost. A son was born in Holland and it is known that the family
later moved from Holland to the City of New York, or near it on the North
River, on or about the year 1700. He died there, leaving a widow, and among
other children, Daniel Cooper, Sr."

One of the "other children" is probably Ann (Annetje) Cooper. The only
records I have of Daniel and Ann are in New Jersey, starting in the 1720s.

So if Daniel and some "other children", and his mother, and possibly his
father, all lived in New York for a while between 1695 and 1720, is it
possible that some record of them still exists? Where would I look for such
a record (since I don't currently know the names of his parents)?

Thanks,
Chris

I'd first go there, and look for whatever fell into the period of
interest. For instance, I've found the Dutch Reformed Church Records
very useful, do you you know what church they belonged to?

This one is useful also:
