Pattons of Philadelphia

I have a reference to a Robert Patton of Philadelphia, not long
deceased as of 1861. He had a daughter Matilda. He might be Robert
Patton who died 1/18/1856 and "who has filled many respectable
positions under the city government".

What is the family background of the Robert Pattons who flourished in
the 2nd quarter of the 19th century at Philadelphia? Any ideas?

I haven't looked up that particular line. I'm looking for info
about John Patton, who was married to Ann Ramage. They were
married sometime around or just before 1837, and he died before
1850.

Their children were:
John Patton 1837 - bef 1900
Archibald Torrance Patton 1839 - ?
Adam Ramage Patton 1842-1865
Ann Patton [Cartledge] 1845-1925

Family lore has it that Ann was a daughter of Adam Ramage,
inventor of the printing press that bears his name, but I can't
document it.

Okay, I have my answer now. This family is no relation to the Pattons
of Philadelphia who were civi leaders. They're amongst the numerous
Irish immigrants who came to Philly in the 19th Century. Actually, I
came across quite a few Irish Pattons there. Were any of these
families related? No evidence yet.
