Info about Fred. Justesen, 2047 Carmel Avenue, Racine, WI -

Legg inn av hunter » 08 okt 2007 12:08:09

Hello,

I am seeking information about Fred Justesen, who left Denmark in 1889
and arrived in Racine, Wisconsin in 1890. Freds last registered
location in Denmark was Viborg.
According to the 1910 census records Fred worked as a painter at a
wagon factory in Racine

He was married in 1890 to Minnie M. Justesen and they had 5 children
in 1910:

Millie aged 19 i 1910 , she worked at a shirt factory
Annie J. aged 17 in 1901, she worked as a laundress at a laundry.
Myrtle J. aged 14 in 1910
Carlus M. aged 12 in 1910
Esther N. aged 10 in 1910

Any information is greatly appreciated.

John

John,

A quick look through ancestry and the GenWeb for Racine isn't coming up
with a lot of information that you don't already have.

Census records indicate that Fred came to the U.S. in 1889, Minnie was
also from Denmark, and the son is Carlos, not Carlus. Fred and Minnie
were still alive as of the 1930 census and still in Racine County.
Carlos died in the 1970s, also in Racine County.

There is a person offering to do courthouse look-ups in Racine, and you
could see if she could find a death record for Fred, and maybe a
marriage record for Fred and Minnie, as well as the marriages for their
children.

The GenWeb URL for Racine County is:

Good luck,
Cathy

Thanks Cathy,

I have contacted one of the volunteers in Racine county. She will look
up Freds naturalization records. I have also ordered a copy of the
Fred's and Marie marriage certificate.

Meanwhile I have created a small Web-site with pictures that Marie
sent to her sister in Denmark. Marie's sister is my great great
grandmother Maren Christensen. Maren's husband Jens Carl Christensen
had a brother Sophus Johannes Marinus Christensen who emigrated from
Denmark i 1905 at the age of 14, he is also mentioned in the letters
and shown on some of the photos Marie sent to her sister. Sophus ended
up in Askov, Minnesota.
The Web-site is:http://stenkrogen.dyndns.dk/john/Racine-WI-US/

Thanks
John
