I'm looking for information on my Great-Uncle, Glen Sackett Aldrich, as
well as his Grandfather, John Aldrich. John was b. 23 February 1828, d. 30
December 1909. Glen Sackett Aldrich was b. 2 Dec 1886 to Carl Milton
Aldrich, Senior and Corinne "Connie" May Tackett.
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of other information.
Any help would be appreciated. Email replies acceptable.
Thanks.

Re: Looking for Aldrich genealogy
Courtesy of the post about the family found by googling, I was able to
narrow your John Aldrich down to two possibilities in New York - one in
the county next to the one where John Aldrich wed Mary Jane Johnson, and
one in a county on the western edge of the state.
The first one:
Year: 1850; Census Place: Unadilla, Otsego, New York; Roll: M432_580;
Page: 187
Charles Aldrich, 29, born New York, Farmer
Olive Adrich, 23, born New York
Charles Aldrich, 3, born New York
Mary Bagley, 17, born New York
John Aldrich, 23, born New York, Farmer
(In the same dwelling, but a different household)
Alexander (no last name shown, so probably Aldrich since he follows
John's entry), 36, born New York, Farmer
Julia, 28, born New York
Judson, 3/12, born New York
The second one:
Year: 1850; Census Place: Villenova, Chautauqua, New York; Roll:
M432_484; Page: 105
G. B. Aldrich, 50, born New Hampshire, Farmer
Amarilla, 46, born Vermont
Jeannette, 26, born New York
John, 22, born New York
Robin (?), 2, born New York
Clark, 36, born New Hampshire, Farmer
But, based on the fact that Otsego County is next to Delaware County,
which is where John and Mary Jane were wed, I'd put my money on that
John Aldrich being the one you're looking for. His age is a bit off,
but that's not unusual with census records.
The NY GenWeb site has a county selection table, and you can go there to
access the GenWeb sites for Delaware, Otsego and Chautauqua counties to
see what they have on the Aldrich name.

Good luck,
Cathy

Actually, that's where I *discovered* the information. I'm looking for
more information about him. I'd also like to know about the man I was
named after, Glen's grandfather.

Thanks, Cathy. That was very helpful! I'll have to see if I can't find
time at lunch to look that up at work.
