soc.genealogy.computing ?

Have you got a router with a hardware firewall?
Does your ISP use port-blocking ?
If you are using Windoze XP etc. then ITYF that switching off any
third-party firewall will result in the XP etc. version switching
itself on without asking you.

applications allowed to use the net / specific ports

FTM 16 calls MS IE 6 or 7 for searches on ancestry

Hi Paul,

If you have Zone Alarm then this could be the cause of your problems as
Zone Alarm used to cause this issue with some programs but not all.
Worth checking this out if you do have Zone Alarm.
Hope this may be of some help.

Does it specifically call IE, or does it call the default browser? Or is
there a way to know?
