Dennis, yes, that's them/her.

There was a common theory that they ended up (Cora and her hubby) in

I will keep looking later on. I searched in PA by both of their names, and
by Nina, by birth year. I found one hit for a Cora Reid who was listed as a
widow with her daughter Nina, but of course the last name was wrong or she
was hard on men!

Well, the obituary for Lavina Neal lists all of her children, and Corah
is not one of them. If you go to the GenWeb site for Jefferson County,
PA, Lavina's obit is in their archives, as is the resolution to the land
that Lawrence left his children.
http://www.pa-roots.com/~jefferson/
The obit is below:
The Brookville Republican
March 12, 1908
MRS LAVINA NEAL
Death's Summons Removes a Beloved Mother to Her Reward.
The funeral of Mrs. Lavina Neal, nee Grove, took place Saturday
morning, March 7th, 1908. The services were held at St. John's Lutheran
church, Rose township, and were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. W.W.
Frey. Interment was made in St. John's cemetery. Mrs. Lavina Neal was
born September 3d, 1834, on what is now the Diener place in Rose
township, and was 74 years, 6 months and 2 days of age at her death. She
was united in marriage to Lawrence Neal 1855 and had lived ever since in
the locality in which she died except for a few years at Summerville.
Her husband departed this life about six years ago.
The family consisted of five daughters and four sons all of whom
survive except Esther, wife of Mr. Mayo, who died a few years ago. They
are as follows: Mrs. Annie Zook, Connmaugh; G. W., Nebraska, Forest
county; Mrs. Myrtle Kaiser, New York City; Carlton M., at home; Mrs.
Edna Lee Frease, New York City; Oran, at home; Jesse, Loleta; Mrs.
Jennie Kaiser, New York City. There are also one brother and two sisters
of Mrs. Neal living. Mrs. Neal was widely and favorably known in the
community in which she lived. She was a kind and helpful neighbor,
always ready to lend assistance wherever needed. Her family life was
marked by gentleness and love. She was a consistent member of St. John's
church for more than 60 years-surely a- record of profession and faith
which is noteworthy. Of a modest and retiring disposition, she was
nevertheless faithful and earnest in her works and life as a true
follower of Him who in her dying moments was her stay and assurance
-.who was indeed for her "the Resurrection and the Life." - X.
****************
All nine children are accounted for. The deposition of the land left to
the children by Lawrence only mentions living children, whereas Lavina's
obit mentions all of the children, so if Beatrice Cora had predeceased
her mother, her name should have been mentioned. There could be reasons
why she wasn't mentioned, but seeing as how Esther was mentioned, and
she's deceased, then I can't see why Corah would have been left out.
May I ask why you believe this to be the family of your Beatrice Cora Neal?

Re: Beatrice Cora Neal (b 1867) married William Jackson Smit
To update my own post - the 1900 census indicated that Lavina had 9
children, but only 7 were living at that time. So it's possible that
both Esther and Corah were deceased by that point in time.
If so, and that Corah is your Beatrice Cora Neal Smith, then finding
records of her and her husband together is going to be a bit more
difficult because the U.S. census for 1890 was almost completely
destroyed. Another potentital problem is that there are a lot of states
that didn't require death records prior to the 1900s (a few did, but
I've found that most don't). William Smith could have remarried, or
moved in with relatives, been a boarder in someone's home, fostered Nina
out to someone else to raise if his wife were dead - and there's a lot
of Nina Smith's in the 1900 Federal Census - if you have anything more -
possible married name for Nina, or when she died, ANYTHING - that might
help with tracking her down.

I was the one that posted that obit! Funny, eh? Every indication is that
Cora either died (she does appear on a census or two) or changed her
name. Vexing, to be sure.
By the way, in addition, I posted Lawrence Neal's land distribution
thingie:

one thousand nine hundred and eight (1908) between ....ELIZABETH. M.
EPLER and MORTON EPLER her husband, EDNA B. and LAWRENCE FREASE, her

I have been unable to locate either ELIZABETH. M. EPLER and MORTON EPLER
OR EDNA B. and LAWRENCE FREASE anywhere. Even though the women are
listed as beneficiaries and children of Lawrence Neal.
Help?

remarried that quickly? Or did the person giving the info for the

Ah, well that makes things easier and harder...and here I was hoping to
have some kind of a lead for you <grin>!
Question:
In the land document, there's Elizabeth M. Epler and Morton Epler, her
husband, and that's dated March, 1908. But there's no Epler in the
obituary, also from March of 1908. There's a Myrtle Kaiser, who isn't
in the land document. Typo or did Elizabeth's husband die and she
remarried that quickly? Or did the person giving the info for the
obituary make a mistake and get Elizabeth (I'm guessing here that she
went by Myrtle) and Jennie confused?

Hard to think that many documents could get that much stuff wrong, though.

I was the one that posted that obit! Funny, eh? Every indication is
that Cora either died (she does appear on a census or two) or changed
her name. Vexing, to be sure.
By the way, in addition, I posted Lawrence Neal's land distribution
thingie:
:::::THIS INDENTURE, made the — ___ day of March in the year of our
Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight (1908) between ....ELIZABETH.
M. EPLER and MORTON EPLER her husband, EDNA B. and LAWRENCE FREASE,
her husband:::::,....
I have been unable to locate either ELIZABETH. M. EPLER and MORTON
EPLER OR EDNA B. and LAWRENCE FREASE anywhere. Even though the women
are listed as beneficiaries and children of Lawrence Neal.

What a guy! Although I shouldn't be too hard on Charles - for all we

Jennie moved in with them. Each generation likes to think that all of
the preceding ones were more moral and upright than the current one, but
the reality is much different!
I see them in the 1900 Federal Census, and Lizzie IS going by Myrtle.
So it's Charles and Myrtle Kaiser, married 7 years, living in Kings
County (Brooklyn), along with Jennie Neal. So perhaps whoever gave the
information for the obituary wasn't aware that Lizzie had remarried?
And all of that still doesn't help with Beatrice. Are there any rumors
that she had other children aside from Nina?

No. Even that shouldn't technically be there. They have relatives still
in Brookville who relayed that to me.
Thank you Cathy, btw.

You got that right! A pair of my maternal great grandparents were

three generations of offspring when they died.
Imagine my surprise when I found out the real backstory. Both of them
illegitimate. Her mother had two children and never married (she kept
house for her father). HIS mother didn't marry his father, left
Ireland and went to Scotland where she married a drunk, abusive sugar
house worker (he ended up unemployed, and the children in a Ragged and
Industrial school to keep them fed). My great grandfather married, had
a child who died and the marriage came apart, although there was no
divorce. My great grandmother was a servant, got pregnant by a married
man, abandoned the baby on the doorstep of the father. Then the two of
them met - she got pregnant - had the baby, and they married three
weeks AFTER my grandmother was born (incidentally, making him a
bigamist). My great grandfather then got on a boat to Canada, and sent
for my great grandmother and the child a year later. Phew. Imagine the
reaction from family members, no matter how diplomatically you package
the facts.
These two later became the most respectable pair on the planet! Talk
about reinventing yourself. In some ways, I'm more impressed by what
they overcame than if they had been goody goodies all the way. They
overcame obstacles, they stumbled and got back up, and the end result
was all good.

I feel like this is never going to get solved. I was in PA a few years

the land deed I showed you here, and I thought it would answer all my
questions, but it clearly just created more.
Probably in Jefferson County PA. They had a child (at least one) and her
name was Nina.
I can find NOTHING on them. Can anyone take a stab at it?
