I am helping my best friend make her family
tree and she has a mystery.
One of her relatives is Frank Brown and
rumor has it that he was banned or exiled
or kicked out of Ohio for some unknown reason.
We are trying to figure out what it was.
We found Frank in the 1880 census Fairfield
County, Ohio. Age 17. Parents John & Mary.
In the 1900 US Census he is married to Elizabeth
and he is age 36. 5 kids. Putnam County, Ohio.
I can't make out the village name, but it
starts with L. Enumeration District is 78.
I don't have access to any newspapers of that
era, so any help or advice would be wonderful.

Found this, don't know if it's him.

Combes has received a letter from one
Frank Brown, now in prison in Guatamala

and can't get the judges to bring him
to trial because, in the meantime, the
Italian has disappeared. He invokes
the aid of Uncle Sam to get him out.

Sorry, I didn't get the original post on this thread, so this reply is to
Jonathan.
I don't know if you just didn't list them, or if you haven't found them yet,
but Frank and family are still in Putnam County, OH in 1910, and then they
are in Washtenaw Co., MI in 1920 and 1930. It looks like they left Ohio
somewhere between 1910 and 1913. I checked the closest area newspapers
available on Ancestry but didn't find anything interesting. That's not
saying much though. There aren't any Putnam Co. papers there, only nearby
counties, and the name is common enough that I could easily have missed
something amongst the numerous hits.
