Medical Records

Some food for thought.
My Great Grandfather died in 1906. I tried for a long time to get copies of
his records, the state of New York has them in a warehouse and the
Department of Education is in charge of them. I had medical reasons for
wanting to obtain them. I wrote for copies and appealed the denial . Both
times I was turned down because of 'patient confidentiality'. He's been dead
for over 100 years ! ! ! !
I have since obtained copies of my husbands records (who passed away almost
two years ago) and my own. It cost $20.00 US to have a copy made. I made the
decision that if future generations would need our medical information and
100 years from now be turned down because of 'patient confidentiality' that
I would eliminate the politicians and bureaucracy..
You might consider having copies of your own records made and keep them in a
safe place to be passed on to your descendants.

Already done. My Grandfather started the habit and we've all been doing it
ever since. Very good suggestion though.
