No Salkilld found on US census. I took the D off, Salkill, and found the
following results:

1810 Census Results: 1 Expand by State
1820 Census Results: 1 Expand by State
1860 Census Results: 4 Expand by State
1870 Census Results: 4 Expand by State
1880 Census Results: 7 Expand by State
1910 Census Results: 2 Expand by State
1920 Census Results: 3 Expand by State
1930 Census Results: NA

You can check with your local library to see if they have access to any of the
various genealogy web sites. In Ohio, USA many library systems allow home
access to http://www.heritagequest.com, but only in library access to http://www.ancestry.com.
Have you also posted to soc.genealogy.australia+nz?

Hi,

Rather similar to SALKELD ... a name I think that possibly originates from
Cumbria, England.

Regards,

Dave H.

Hi,

Salkilld is a great family name, in fact all the members of my family have it... :->>

It is Scandanavian in origin, and for my line of the family, was changed from the Salkeld spelling several generations ago by a birth/death/marriage registra who thought the current spelling was better. However, there is a Salkilld name that goes back well beyond this.

We can trace our family back many generations, and know of relatives as far away as Australia.

Cheers.
