FTM opionions

Hello Group,

I found a site selling new copies of FTM Collectors Edition 2005 for
11.00 + 8.00 for shipping. I currently use FTM 9.0. Do you think the
changes warrant the upgrade? And / or any users of 2005 are you liking it
better than the any previous version you were using. And / or is an even
newer version better in your opinion than 9 or 2005.

FWIW, one thing, I would have liked would be the ability to set a person
as a default and have all the direct ancestors or descendents show up in a
different color than all the others relatives.

TIA

Hi Mike,

You could change to Legacy SE which is free!!, this program does what
you want, I use the Deluxe version and IMHO this better than FTM I used
to use FTM but sick of the constant upgrades that cost you to upgrade
for minor improvements IMHO FTM do not deserve the honour of being
called the #1 Genealogical software any longer.
Legacy Deluxe does auto update itself as and when newer builds of that
version come out, it is only the newer versions that one pays for
leaving one with more money to spend on research.

Hugh Watkins has already told you about FTM's latest offering so I will
not touch on this.

David.

That kind if why I was asking. Genealogy.com just sent me an e-mail for
Ver. 16 for 19.95 and shipping. At present my Ver 9 does most everything I
need. So really I do not have to upgrade. I am just considering it for the
present time.

the main thing I like is the improved management of sources with godd
keyboard shortcuts

I can't remember at what point the grey edit person box was added
I just like to have the updates of all my stuff
(not windows vista before I get a new machine)
