Trouble Finding St Peter's Orphanage on 1910 Census-Memphis,

Legg inn av Sonia Meyer » 31 mar 2007 08:34:13

I'm having a hard time locating St. Peter's Orphanage in Memphis on the 1910
census. The address is 1805 Poplar, and located in the 17th Ward. I need
the enumeration district, or some other marker to get to the right pages.
I don't have the name of a specific person, but just want to see the names
of the staff and orphans, as my family members were there in 1911 and gone
by 1920.

17th Ward starts with ED 217, I searched through districts 217-218, and
part 219 and didn't find it, so if you start at ED 219 that should put
you closer to the spot you want.

It is located in ED 220. You can use this site to find EDs

Thanks for the responses. After I posted, I remembered about Steve Morse's
site and used it to find the enumeration district, and found St. Peter's
Orphanage in Memphis. I've used it in the past, but thought it was only
for 1930. It includes 1920 and 1910 as well, and is a very useful
resource.

Thanks again.

In UK we just telephone a local libray and ask the local historians
or look in an old street directory to deal with unindexed census
