Expanding of Genealogy-UK.net

Legg inn av Genealogy-UK » 08 feb 2007 20:27:05

Hello,

Please let me introduce myself for those who don't know me, my name is David
Mills I'm proud owner of Genealogy-UK.net. Genealogy-UK.net is a huge
community of family tree/genealogy lovers across the world. Our community
has been helping people, find their roots of years. I myself am a genealogy
lover and love help other's find their past. But I know as well as any other
genealogy lover that genealogy can be an expensive hobby, that's why I have
been for the past 6 months or so been trying to upgrade my site to offer
free services.

- Family trees
- Index searches
- and much more...

What I was emailing you for is your ideas, anything I can put on the site
that will bring real value to your family tree.

The site is currently under construction and will hopefully be ready for
next month.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Kind Regards

David Mills

I'm sorry you fell this way.
This isn't a spam I nor email harvesting. I've been doing genealogy as a
hobby for many years built up a yahoo mail list with many people who have
the same interest. I recently move my mail list to Genealogy-UK and was
going to try and put my web site expertise (my day job) to use to help more
people.
I have since made alliances with other sites and was looking to make a site
available for free to others.

Kind Regards

David Mills

David my apologies

but why not continue with yahoo?

and tell us about it too?

do you want to earn money from the advertising?

I have just been on the ancestry.com system
their footer is full of useful data
eg who to contact in their press room

why is the URL registered under an incorrect street address?
put these basics in order if you want to be credible

1837online made the same mistakes at first
and we made the same criticisms

there have been genealogy rip off artists before and some got sent to
prison in UK

take care of your reputaion

Thank you for your kind remarks.

1. The registration was made a while ago and I must of made mistakes at the
time. I will be speaking to my registration company tomorrow to change these
details.

2. I'm not in it for making money as I said, I was using yahoo and will
continue but I want to put my skills as a web developer to use, as a bonus
this is something I love and want to help other people with the same
passion. I was thinking of making a site where people could continue the
discussions online through my site but more interactively. I then went away
and paid for some developments to be made for my site so that people can
upload or create a family tree online. This will include dynamic trees etc.
I have now spoken with several sites about putting indexes on my site and
census records etc. but there is a small subscription fee to pay (this part
will be optional).
To be completely honest with you I do have a sponsor or two but they are
only paying for the scripts and website hosting in exchange for a link back
to their site.
But I'm not looking to make any money anywhere else.

3. The figures I advertise on my site a completely honest (except for a few
bad email address which I try to delete every day), I have had my mail list
going for some few years now and have never charge for a thing.

Thank you once again for your remarks and help in my future projects.

Kind Regards

David Mills
