I'm not too happy with it?
The 'h' is a bit sharper on the hump that others on the
page, there is no 'e' in the word, and if it's supposed to
end in ain, the i is not dotted in the same way as other
dotted i on the page (and he doesn't dot all of them). If I
could twist cliambrdam into a real word I'd be a little
happier with that -- at least there's a dot in the right
place to be over an i.
FWIW.
OTOH, DID the city of Oswego have an office called
Chamberlain? If it did, and if there's not a second one
listed in the census ...

To me the 'h' doesn't compare unfavorably (except for slant) to the 'h'

The varied slant in the word
suggests he wasn't writing on a good surface, i.e. didn't have his
clipboard or whatever securely on something solid when he wrote it.
I too vote for "chambrlain".
