Is there anybody out there that is related to John Brough (b. 1827 d. 1892)
married to Elizabeth (Betsy) Lariviere (b. 1846 d. 1932).

John was the son of John Brough and Janet Green. (both from Scotland, I
believe)

Elizabeth was the daughter of Louis Lariviere (b. 1816) and Marie Lambert
(b. 1828)

Inkster: My first thought was BROUGH is an Orkney name (I have it in
one of my lines). Then I checked the IGI and see John B married Janet
Green in Perth 1820, but John B #2 was christened in Fife. You need to
spend some time on http://www.familysearch.org looking at IGI and 1881
Canadian Census (there is a John B from Orkney there with a Betsey
wife)and also on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Good hunting.

brough

1. English: habitational name from any of various places called
Brough, of which there are several in Yorkshire and Derbyshire as well
as elsewhere. The place name is from Old English burh ‘fortress’ and in
most cases these are the sites of Roman fortifications. The
pronunciation is usually ‘bruff’.
2. Possibly an altered spelling of German Brauch.
which is South German: from a derivative of Middle High German bruchen
‘to enjoy’, hence a nickname for a gourmet or self-indulgent person.

Thanks for your info guys....

I'm looking to go forward in time... find the descendents of these people...
I've gone back in time as far as I can without going to Scotland...

I'm trying to fill in the gaps of what happened to their children... their
grand children.... etc....
