Looking For A Missing Link? Family Reunions May Help

"Not so long ago I was passed the torch of genealogy research
regarding my family line. I was fascinated by the journey I embarked
upon to do research. As time went on however I came to what seemed
dead ends. Possible branches that later did not quite fit and many
questions about who's who, where and how. Needless to say there were
times of frustration.

What helped was attending my family reunion. Sharing the work I did
with family members helped fill in the blanks. As a matter of fact I
found out that I am related to two national league sports stars. One
of these invested considerable time and effort in his own genealogy
research project. Combining our works was indeed gratifying as we both
awed at the facts turned up and the path we took to get to it. If you
are at an impasse I suggest you take your genealogy research work to
your family reunion and share a presentation of what you have come up
with. You may be surprised at what additional finds may turn up.
After all, family knows best."

Other Suggestions while at the family reunion event.

1. Conduct interviews with eldest family members
2. Ask family members to bring photos of earliest known ancestors
3. Ask family members to bring news clippings of personalities and
events pertain to the family
4. Contact community congregations at the old homestead and inquire
about records
5. Ask family members to bring their own genealogy research work for
collaboration
